Rheingau Viticultural Association
The Rheingau Viticultural Association (Rheingau Weinbauverband e.V.) is a voluntary association in particular of the persons working in viticulture and their relatives. It was (re-)established 23 November 1947 (initial establishment 22 June 1909). The association has its registered office at Eberbach Monastery in Eltville/Rhine.
As a professional organisation the Rheingau Viticultural Association represents the viticultural, sociopolitical, economic and cultural interests of its members while maintaining its political neutrality. It represents the interests vis-à-vis county and federal governments, the political parties as well as other national and international institutions and/or organisations. Moreover, it aims at preserving the interests of the entire region.
Moreover, the association takes suitable actions for promoting quality-oriented vineyard cultivation and vineyard extension. Particular value is to be attached to activities for image improvement and positive long-term sales development for Rheingau wine. For this purpose the association is shareholder of Rheingau Wine Promotion (Rheingauer Weinwerbung GmbH).
It is a nonprofit organisation and does not pursue any intention of making profit. It is oriented towards non-business aims. It is financed by membership fees.
The Rheingau Viticultural Association is a member of the German Viticultural Association (Deutscher Weinbauverband e.V.) and the Hessian Farmers' Association (Hessischer Bauernverband e.V.).
The associations bodies, association meeting, the main committee, the committee consist of the president, two vice presidents and eight committee members.
The president or the vice presidents represent the association (society) in and out of court. The committee appoints a director for handling the associations transactions.
